Rain...and, the book of Hosea.

God is good - always.

I've been reading through the book of Hosea and to be totally honest... d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g my way through. I love the OT and the beautiful {yet sometimes very violent} story of God and His love for His people, Israel. Hosea is no exception. But I have been struggling with "getting" something out of it. I don't think the Bible is a magic book where I'll always find a perfect application for right now, but, then again it is the LIVING word of God and has truth for my everyday life. And while I'm not trying to sound like one of those "out of context" people - I was really encouraged about the neat way God showed me some truth in His word this morning. In a tangible way.

We woke up to Orange/Sepia-toned skies here this morning. It was strange and gorgeous. Couldn't find my camera, of course, to capture it - but, trust me. Amazing. Anyway, shortly thereafter the rain began and I love me some rain! So, after we finished breakfast and Ava was playing nicely and Aug's was asleep - I headed for my chair on the porch. It's my new favorite spot. I love reading the Word and journaling there. I can hear the wind and watch the one tree I have out front. Lovely :) I wanted to finish Hosea today so I plugged through chapters 10-14. And on my way through - while it was POURING outside I came across this little nugget :

"Sow for yourselves righteousness;

Reap in mercy;

Break up your fallow ground,

For it is time to seek the Lord,

Till He comes and RAINS righteousness on you."

Hosea 10:12

Isn't that the coolest? {grin}

It's the little things. And while I won't go into the application or the depth of just exactly what Hosea was talking about {feel free to do so yourself, tho!} - I will tell you, I was just so encouraged by the little way the Lord allowed me to learn and connect this morning. :)
